How to get more Google reviews: the link, the QR code and the exact message to ask

By Arthur, from Sámara, Costa Rica · August 19, 2026

Every owner knows the scene: the client leaves happy, says "of course, I'll leave you a review", and the review never arrives. It's not bad faith. The moment simply passed: they're driving, someone called, it slipped away. The whole review game is one trick: make leaving one take ten seconds, at the exact moment the person is happy.

The short version

  • Get your direct review link from your Google Business Profile.
  • Ask right after the service, in person and with a WhatsApp message carrying the link.
  • A QR code at the counter catches the moment while they pay.
  • Never buy reviews: Google deletes them and can suspend your profile.
  • Reply to every review, good and bad.

Your direct review link

Google gives every business a short link that opens the rate-and-write box directly, no searching. It lives in your Google Business Profile (the panel where you edit your business): look for the "Ask for reviews" button. That link, usually shaped like g.page/r/..., is your number-one tool: save it as a WhatsApp quick reply.

The exact message (on WhatsApp, right after the service)

The best channel is the one you already use with the client. The best moment is within the first hour: the person is still happy and the phone is already in their hand. Short, personal, link inside:

The ask-for-a-review message
Thanks for coming in today, María! If you liked the cut, would you leave us a Google review? It takes ten seconds and helps us a lot: just tap the link and tell people how it went.
Gladly! Leaving it now.

One detail that changes the outcome: ask for the review, not for five stars. "Tell people how it went" sounds like an invitation; "give me five stars" sounds like homework. And a review with words is worth more, to Google and to the next reader, than a silent rating.

The counter QR code (the payment moment)

There's a second perfect moment: while they pay. The person is standing, phone in hand, with two seconds of silence. A printed QR code by the register that opens your review link turns that dead moment into your best channel. Any free QR generator works: paste your g.page/r/... link and done. More and more businesses do it, for a simple reason: it works.

Can you buy reviews? (the question everyone asks)

Can you? Sure, someone will sell them. And it's the worst possible investment. Google detects fake-review patterns, deletes them quietly and can suspend the whole profile, which is your storefront on the map. They also show: five generic reviews on the same day convince less than one real review that mentions Daniel and her son's haircut. One earned review is worth more than twenty bought ones, and it can't cost you the business.

Reply to all of them (yes, the bad ones too)

  • To the good ones, short and by name: "Thanks, María! See you next time." Google rewards active profiles, and readers see a business that shows up.
  • To the bad ones, without fighting: thank them, acknowledge the concrete thing, and take it private: "We're sorry about the wait. Message us and we'll make it right." The reply isn't for that client: it's for the two hundred people who'll read it later.

What if they asked for themselves?

The system that already knows who came in today can ask for the review for you. With rezervaya, after the visit, a happy client automatically gets the message with your Google link, with cool-downs so nobody gets nagged and nothing sent to people who opted out. You just watch the reviews come in. The trial is free, runs 14 days and doesn't ask for a card.

If asking for reviews always slips your mind (like everyone's), let them ask for themselves:

Quick questions

Where do I get my business's Google review link?
In your Google Business Profile (google.com/business): sign in with the account that manages your business and look for the "Ask for reviews" button. The short link it gives you (g.page/r/...) opens the write-a-review box directly.
Can I ask for reviews over WhatsApp?
Yes, and it's the best channel: the conversation already exists and the phone is already in the client's hand. Send the message within the first hour after the service, with the direct link inside.
Is it legal to buy Google reviews?
It's against Google's policies: fake reviews get deleted and the profile can be suspended. Beyond the rule, it's bad business: they show, they convince less than one real review, and they put your storefront on the map at risk.
How often can I ask the same client for a review?
Once. If they didn't leave one, a single reminder weeks later is reasonable; more than that gets uncomfortable. A client who already left a review is never asked again.

Start today: get your link, save it as a quick reply, and send it to this afternoon's clients. Your first three reviews of the week are one message away.
